Early Childhood Sector

Shayne & Martel Shayne & Martel

Campaigns in the Early Childhood sector are built around the AEU’s commitment to the right of all children to high quality free public early childhood education. Essential to this vision are the provision of:

  • Employment conditions and salaries which recognise the professional status of teachers, assistants and other staff
  • Registration for early childhood teachers and accreditation for other staff in early childhood services
  • Funding and resources to support children's access, shared professional development, and information exchange to strengthen the continuity of children's progress and improve their educational outcomes
  • An early childhood curriculum framework that enables continuity for children as they enter the early years of school.

The AEU's commitment to the creation and retention of partnerships with parents as a positive and important element in the provision of early childhood education is also reflected in these campaigns.

The Early Childhood Sector is represented by Shayne Quinn as the Vice President, Early Childhood and Martel Menz as the Deputy Vice President, Early Childhood. They can be contacted by phone on (03) 9417 2822 or email: Shayne and Martel. Secretarial support is provided by Ian Tremain.
