Reporting A Workplace Assault

The Occupational Health and Safety Act (2004) in its Definitions, makes it explicit for the first time that references to the health of employees “includes psychological health” (Part 1 Section 5 (1)).

It therefore becomes even more important that all incidents that involve violence or potential violence to staff are recorded and reported.

All incidents involving violence or potential violence should be reported using the reporting form which is contained in the back of the "Your Rights to a Safe Workplace" booklet, the guide for Health and Safety Representatives contained in the HSR pack or by downloading and completing the form.

Keep a copy of the form for your records.
