Education Support Regional Conferences

Our annual Melbourne ES conference each August has become a major fixture in the AEU calendar. In response to increasing demand from country members, the AEU introduced Regional ES Conferences in 2006, and they have become very popular and permanent events in the AEU schedule. Venues so far have included Warrnambool, Echuca, Shepparton, Wangaratta and Mildura.

The program, run with the Teacher Learning Network (TLN), reflects the needs of ES staff, and includes workshops on managing difficult behaviour, organisational health, and legal liability. This is a great opportunity to network with other ES members, share ideas and learn new ways of overcoming old problems.

Like the Melbourne conference, our regional events have proven very successful. We have taken members' advice on board and reduced the number of workshops. And we have introduced a very popular workshop from our metro conference, on Managing Difficult Behaviour.

Details and registration forms are faxed to schools and made available on the website closer to the date.

Member forums

The first step in improving ES conditions is for ES staff to be better informed about how their schools are managed, and to understand their rights and entitlements. Our program of member forums runs throughout the year after school at the AEU office in Abbotsford. Why not get a group together from your school and attend these informative sessions together?
