THE AEU is introducing a new and exciting initiative for ES members: the Education Support Advocate Program.

Education Support members are becoming increasingly active in the AEU and want to be more informed on how the union operates. Many ES members have taken on active roles in sub-branches in schools and are looking to expand their involvement.

The AEU would like to support and encourage ES members to be more engaged in the union and more active among fellow members.

ES Advocate Program

So an exciting new initiative, the Education Support Advocate program, has been developed to give ES members an opportunity to join in AEU activities. It's a chance to have input into the AEU's approach to ES issues and influence future directions.

Participants will meet and work with AEU leadership, organisers and membership services unit staff. They will take part in AEU briefings and meetings, and join visits to schools to meet other members.

So if you are a keen union member and interested in learning more about the AEU and how your union works for ES staff - then this is an opportunity for you.

The AEU invites two ES members to participate in the Education Support Advocate program, which will run over four days. An third place has been allocated specifically for an AEU Koorie Educator. To be eligible you need to be a Koorie AEU member working in a school under the Education Support Classification (ES).

All replacement costs will be covered. After the program, successful applicants will be encouraged to continue their connection with the union and participate in AEU regional meetings.

Application forms must be signed by the school principal. It is recommended that you inform your principal as early as possible so replacement arrangements can be put in place.

There will be a program run each term.
